GrandFamily Village Isn’t for Everyone… really?

GrandFamily World is a supportive and inclusive space designed for grandparents navigating the life-changing role of raising their grandchildren or great-grandchildren.
If you have raised your grandchild(ren) into their next phase in life, you are most welcome as well! You have so much to share… There are so many in our community deep in trenches who absolutely need to hear from you! Please join us.
We welcome everyone with open arms to explore this website & blog, and, of course, sign up for the weekly newsletter!
GrandFamily Village, the online member-based community, is not set up to support the following:
- Those not actively raising their grandchild(ren) or working toward guardianship. This is a space for those fully immersed in this caregiving journey. Grandparents who are occasional caregivers, like babysitting on weekends or hosting during holidays (lucky you!) This community is for those embracing the day-to-day role of parenting their grandchildren.
- Parents or other family (kin) caregivers who aren’t grandparents to the children they are raising as the focus is on the unique experiences of grandfamilies and the joys and challenges they face.
- Professionals, facilitators, and allies – we know how much incredible value you bring to the world of grandfamily support. And we love that! But this community is all about peer-to-peer connection, where members find comfort in knowing every single person here truly understands their journey, and is living it.
- Individuals seeking only financial or legal advice. While we acknowledge the financial challenge and the complexities of navigating legal systems, this community does not provide professional advice in these areas.
- Anyone looking for quick fixes — we’re all about connection, resilience, and real conversations, not magic wands. (but seriously, wouldn’t that be just wonderful!?!)
- Anyone not open to inclusive, compassionate, and judgment-free dialogue — respect, empathy, and kindness are at the heart of everything we do. We always make safe space and opportunity for ranting and venting (at the situation, at the legal system, at the world) when needed. But let’s keep that frustration/anger from being projected inappropriately to other members as conversations can sometimes delve deeply into topics like grief, healing, and navigating difficult emotions.
